I'd love to recommend a book I am reading on-line by Samuel Zwemer (1867-1952). It is called Raymund Lull, First Missionary to the Moslems. (Muslims). Lull lived in the 13th Century, and was a Catholic layman, who may have also become a friar, but with wife and children.

There is a version at answering-islam.org which has a number of typos, but you can read a whole chapter on a single webpage.

Another version is at ibri.org where there you view page by page which are scanned copies of the book pages.

It is a great book for anyone with missionary vision, and also gives a look at what it might have been like to be an evangelical at heart before the time of the Reformation.
