Beef barley soup. I know it's not soup weather but it tastes so good and I never know how hungry the kids will be when they get back from their dad. This is an easy meal to eat as much or as little as you want.

I think she partly cooks it before putting it in the crockpot.

I think I might be too tired to cook tonight. I'm hoping there are still some frozen hamburger patties in the freezer!

ORIGINAL: cynthia I think she partly cooks it before putting it in the crockpot. BINGO!!! I backed the chicken a bit, then added it to the crock pot to finish cooking! Oh, and "He partly cooks it" No offense taken of course, just setting the record straight

I want to start those burgers, but the rain is pouring down like crazy. Wonder if I can out wait it or will have to come up with something else for dinner.

We had turkey casserole tonight (here in the UK that does NOT mean pasta in the oven, like I've heard that's what you call it in the US (we call that pasta bake)) I did it on the stove top, cooked 500g diced turkey thigh in gravy with baby onions, diced swede, celery, leek, carrots, mixed herbs including sage. Had it with boiled potatoes. Then we had lemon meringue ice cream for afters :) Amazingly, the cost for 4 people was under £5 for everything! And there was so much gravy even the dog got some :)

We had 'chicken' pies (the individual ones you buy frozen and cook at home), with mashed potatoes, gravy and mixed veggies (carrots, cauli and broccoli) - but the general opinion on the pies was they were better described as pastry pies! *lol* There was virtually no filling. I think I had 2 little pieces of chicken in mine.... Oh well, they were cheap and fillling... only £1 for 4 - now I know why.... We had home-made choc-chip cookies for afters. Good job we'd had a cooked lunch earlier, so overall we are not short on protein.

Sirloin steak on the grill and green beans and fresh fruit salad. Some kind of potato. . . grilled new potatoes or sweet.
