Can you explain the difference? I've often felt that there was a difference, but have never known exactly how that difference would play out.
I'll need to get back with you on that . . . such a post is going to take more time than I can currently devote to writing it. Please remind me about this after this weekend.

Euty, that's a wonderful attendance!! Have you heard yet how many decisions?

There were 44 professions of faith. Our ministers spent extra time with each one to make sure they understood what they were doing.

2010 ~ A Year of Eclectic Joys! - 6/28/2010 8:30:29 PM

This is a drive-by post:

*~*~*~*~*

I wasn't going to post a reply here but i just can't shake it.

I can speak from the point of the person who is seeking your forgiveness and acceptance, as i recently hurt someone i cared alot about by doing something so ignorant. I asked him to forgive me and tried my best to explain myself and my action to him. He has stated that he forgave me, that he wasn't angry with me, but trust was broken. He doesn't talk to me anymore. I would love to have him forgive me to the point that we can put the past behind us and continue with a friendship. I pray daily that the Lord would move in his heart and this would come about. It's hard to feel real forgiveness from a person who can't even speak to you. It makes me question whether or not he really forgave.

I would really pray and ask the Lord to guide you in this matter, you aren't obligated to friend this person again, but i think in the long run we should act as Christ. Christ has forgiven each one of us for a multitude of wrongs, He doesn't chose to unfriend us when we fail, instead it's the exact opposite. He reaches down to our level and lifts us up to Him. We are to imitate Christ, as your handle says. Should we not imitate His action of love, forgiveness, and forgetting our wrongs? He still befriends us and it was our many sins that lead to His death on the Cross.
Aimes!!!

I am truly humbled AND blessed by your post.

Again, from the guests he has on his program, it is difficult to determine where he lies theologically. His guests run the gamut from Beth Moore & Charles Stanley (generally Biblically sound) to Creflo Dollar (false teacher) which is what led me to believe he has an "anything goes" theology.

"Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?" I Corinthians 5:6

33 "Be not deceived: Evil companionships corrupt good morals." I Corinthians 15

I haven't followed him closely in recent years, but he was once a darling hope of another Billy Graham in the SBC until he became a Charismatic. Wherever he stands today theologically, his education and theological foundation was, IMO, solid.

Weird But Fun & Useful Household Tips - 6/29/2010 10:23:55 PM

1) I use toilet bowl cleanser with bleach (in gel form) to clean my countertops and sinks (both kitchen and bathroom). I also use it to clean the tubs and showers. I DON'T use it to clean my toilets.

2) This is a new discovery for me, and one that I thought was pretty neat.

Dinner tonight was spaghetti. I didn't have any Parmesan cheese (shredded or not). The only cheese I had in the house was some leftover sliced provolone cheese. I froze the stack of cheese; and when it was hard, I shredded it. Pretty cool, even I do say so myself. LOL

"For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect." Matthew 24:24 (NKJV)

Did you perchance notice the qualifier "IF POSSIBLE"? That's another way of saying "it can't happen, bud."

The passage does not support your assertion that even the elect can be deceived.

Please try again... unless you are willing to admit you were teaching errant doctrine.

If you need another verse, here's Revelation 2:20:
"Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetesss, to teach and to seduce My servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

And from earlier in Matthew 24, in a private converstion with his disciples(I mean how much more elect can you get than that) Jesus says:

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you, (Matt. 24:4).

It's called the feel-good, ear-tickling mentality of today's American church. That's how they didn't see it.

I wish your simplistic labels worked but they don't. They fall short as all labels do and they do a greater disservice to the body of believers.

When people do not agree with you, the carnal response is to categorize or label. The godly response is to seek to understand.

It is the seeking to understand behavior that set Jesus apart from the religious experts of His day. Love seeks to know.

I believe the person who desires to burn down the shack is in far greater theological peril than the one who erected the shack in the first place.

The Apostle Paul, what a labeler.

2 Timothy 4:3

For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

I've missed quite a bit of episodes since I first started watching it, and I've began watching it again recently, and I've noticed Mary takes the Lord's name in vain waaay more lately than she used to or should. Just a disappointing observation about an otherwise good show.

Prayer for My Family, Please. Prayer and Praise Reports pink.. n/a n/a 6/13/2010 12:10:42 PM
pink..

quote:

We had a really good visit on Friday and not only did the girl come over, but her younger sister had popped into town to surprise her, so she came along too. So it was a double blessing!

I went to a revival last night. It was held outdoors. It was wonderful!

DD had a setback. She was supposed to go to school online during the summer. The school dropped the ball and didn't get her signed up in time, so she wasn't able to do it. She also failed one of her mandatory classes and has to take that again next year. She will have to go to continuation school. The students who go to that school do not get to participate in any activities that the local school offers, including prom and graduation. However, the school said that since it was their error, they will let her participate in prom and graduation providing that she keeps her grades up enough to graduate.

...to honor, and to OBEY.... - 7/5/2010 8:12:54 AM
(Women's Only Folder)

And again . . . EXACTLY!

*~*~*~*~*
I was talking with Brent about this thread last night. We got into a discussion about how some Christian men know what it truly means for husbands to love their wives as Christ loves the church and how some Christian men really have no clue about it.

A man who does know what it means is not going to insist that his wife obey him. That's someone on an ego trip, someone who has serious control issues . . . or someone who is both - an ego maniac AND a controller.

When Brent and I were writing our vows, in Part I, he chose what he wanted to say, and I chose what I wanted to say. Neither one of us told the other one what to vow. We wrote Part II together. During the drafting, we did read each others vows; and we were both satisfied with what the other one had written.

*~*~*~*~*
I used the word "submit" in my vows. I still believe there is a vast, vast difference between submitting and obeying; but it seems that some of y'all do not. Hence, I won't argue that point again, but will talk just a bit about how my husband and I relate to each other.

Brent has never used my vow to submit to him "against me". He doesn't order me around, and he doesn't "lay down the law". I make my own decisions about many, many MANY things. I am not a child, a puppy, a slave or someone incapable of (or disallowed to) make decisions. I do not have to follow my husband blindly with no opportunity to voice my opinion.

The times when I defer to Brent when we are not on the same page? I gladly do so . . . because of Part II of our vows where we promised each other to take everything to Our Lord in prayer. Sometimes after such prayer times, I will realize that my idea was not the right one; sometimes Brent will realize that his idea wasn't the right one.

Brent's not the "boss" of me. He is the leader between the two of us. He takes that responsibility very seriously. We also both know that our marriage is subject to Our Lord's Will, and we also both know that each of us (both individually and together) are also subject to Our Lord's Will.

If both people are remembering really exactly WHO is in charge of everything (Our Lord), then there's not going to be any problems of human "lordship" . . . which, in my opinion, boils down to a humility thing in the first place.
